Google comes to Croydon

Local businesses encouraged to sign up for free digital sessions

Following a study by the Boston Consulting Group that indicated that businesses that have a presence online grow four to eight times faster than those who don’t, Gavin Barwell MP has secured a free Google training seminar for businesses in Croydon.

On Friday 1 February, Google will meet Croydon business owners to offer free advice and tips on how to make the most of the Internet and grow a business online.

The event includes free digital consultations as part of Google’s drive to help business owners harness the latest ‘e-skills’.

By encouraging and supporting a variety of businesses to use the web effectively, from entrepreneurs and one-man-band start-ups, to larger companies, Google and Gavin Barwell are keen to help improve the country’s Internet economy, both locally and nationally.

Google’s training programme has been designed to support and advise businesses regardless of their technical expertise – from starting out and creating their first website, through to improving an existing website and online marketing.

Business owners in Croydon can sign up for the free consultations taking place at Croydon Town Hall, 9 Katharine Street, Croydon from 14:00 til 17:00 on Friday 01 February 2012. Spaces are limited, so business owners are encouraged to sign up quickly.

Gavin Barwell , MP for Croydon Central, said: “A successful online presence is vital for business. Successful small businesses mean a strong local economy. I hope that as many entrepreneurs as possible take advantage of the free expertise on offer from Google.”

Dan Cobley, Managing Director, Google UK, said: “A recent report found that small businesses grow significantly faster when they harness the power of the web, as people use the Internet to search for better deals on gifts and services. Our goal is to help businesses understand how easy it is to get online and contribute to the overall growth of their enterprise and the local economy. We hope that local businesses in and around Croydon will take advantage of these free digital sessions!”

To secure a place business owners should register online here.
